The Kinoguitan National Agricultural School (KNAS), the only TESDA administered school in the First District of the province of Misamis Oriental bagged 2 gold awards in the recently concluded two-day KUMBIRA 2017 on November 22-23, 2017 held at Atrium Limketkai Center, Cagayan de Oro City. The two categories were the Live Kiddie Cake Decorating represented by siblings Gian Arvinson and Shemaiah Angela Boquilla and The Bread Baker Display by Jayson C. Bactong. The extremely proud coach and instructor of KNAS – Mrs. Argelyn Sola-Boquilla informed the school immediately after receiving the award.

KUMBIRA is a two-day annual culinary festival and biggest culinary show competition in Northern Mindanao. Highlight of the event was the Chef Wars Competition in which the Mindanao Elimination Round was held last July 5 in the same venue where KNAS got the 2nd prize.

Meanwhile, the organizers of KUMBIRA 2017 disclosed that since there was no competition held for Umami Culinary Challenge (UCC) this year, they will sponsor KNAS team headed by the coach and Instructor Mrs. Boquilla to represent the Umami Culinary Challenge (UCC) National Competition- My Own Umami Creation Category in January 2018 in Manila. The team was also the representative last year of the above-mentioned category being the winner of UCC – My Own Umami Creation Category during KUMBIRA 2016. KNAS has been proud that the school’s team represents the whole Mindanao in the national culinary competition; hence it is hopeful that the team will bring home the bacon. (Melody V. Acenas)
