Cagayan de Oro City – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA-10) conducted the 2013 Regional Skills Competition last 27 January 2014 in two different locations in the region: MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology, Iligan City and Xavier University-Center for Integrated Technologies, this city.   The competition covered twelve (12) trade areas, namely: Electronics, Graphic Design, Information Network Systems Administration, IT-Software Business Solutions, Mechanical Engineering Design-CAD, Mechatronics, Refrigeration and Air-conditioning, Web Design, Electrical Installation and Maintenance, Welding, Automobile Technology and Cooking.   Competition in the first eight (8) trade areas mentioned were held in MSU-IIT whose champions were all students of the said institution: Mark Anthony A. Balo (Electronics), Kevin C. Camañan (Graphic Design), Carl Martin C. Bacus (Information Network Systems Administration) Abdul Rahim C. Palao (IT-Software Business Solutions), John Bonn L. Jayme (Mechanical Engineering Design-CAD), Jess Christopher B. Lopez and Alion B. Omandam (Mechatronics), Arwin I. Mahinay (Refrigeration and Air-conditioning) and Prinz Nikko C. Palahang (Web Design).

A simultaneous event kicked-off at XU-CIT for the other four (4) trade areas whose winners come from different institutions in the region, namely: Frans Kristian T. Delante of Mindanao University of Science and Technology (Electrical Installation Maintenance), Marimar C. Obial of TESDA Regional Training Center-Iligan (Welding), Jonathan A. Guasa of XU-CIT (Automobile Technology) and Jefferson B. Tulang of Mindanao Arts and Technological Institute, Inc. (Cooking).   Winners have received cash gifts, certificate of recognition and certificate of commitment of which they are entitled with a scholarship at TESDA to enhance their skills and excel more in their chosen fields. Certificates of commitment may be transferred in case they cannot avail it themselves.   Our “champs” are now ready to compete in the Philippine National Skills Competition (PNSC) scheduled in March 2014.   Mabuhay ang mga tech-voc sa Northern Mindanao!
