Cagayan de Oro City – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) gives recognition to the Kabalikat and Idols ng TESDA awardees for 2014 last August 28, 2014 at TESDA Complex, Taguig, Metro Manila which forms part of the 20th TESDA Anniversary Celebration. The activity was graced by TESDA Director General Joel J. Villanueva, Senator Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV, Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz, and TESDA officials.
The Kabalikat Awards this year was given to eleven (11) institutions, six (6) corporations, and thirteen (13) local government units for their outstanding contributions in the conduct and promotion of technical vocational education and training (tech-voc). Their contributions to TESDA were either through the grant of scholarships, donations of tools and equipment for training, establishment and putting up of training centers and rendering technical assistance in the development of training standards.
The Local Government Unit of Lugait under Mayor Wellie G. Lim, declared as Region 10’s Kabalikat Awardee is one of the 30 awardees recognized/awarded in the said ceremony. LGU Lugait has been sustaining the promotion and implementation of TESD programs for the past 18 years using their TEF (Training, Employment, Financial) Cycle of governance which gives solution to unemployment.
For the Idols ng TESDA, 12 tech-voc graduates were awarded and one of them is Mr. Bayona S. Baon, Region 10’s Regional Winner. Mr. Baon is an indigenous person and first among his tribe (Manubo Tribe) in San Fernando Bukidnon who finished a Bachelors Degree (Agricultural Technology). He is also a holder of TESDA National Certificate in Agricultural Crops Production, Animal Production, and Horticulture.
At present, Mr. Bayona S. Baon is designated as Leaf Technician/Jr. Agronomy of Philip Morris Fortune Tobacco (PMFTC) assigned at PMFTC Farm in Claveria, Misamis Oriental.
The annual award seeks to recognize individuals, corporations and institutions for their extraordinary efforts to promote and use tech-voc in making an impact on communities and making lives better for the people.
Kabalikat and Idols ng TESDA awardees received trophies. Cash prizes were also given to the Idols ng TESDA.
