Cagayan de Oro City – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Region 10 and Toyota Cagayan de Oro recently forged a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for an industry immersion on Automobile Technology.

The partnership dubbed as “Industry Immersion for Trainors Program (IITP)” which forms part of Toyota’s Corporate Social Responsibility aims to address TESDA’s need, as well as the TVET providers need to upgrade and sustain a level of currency in the TVET delivery system and instruction that is industry relevant.

This IITP provides opportunity for automotive trainors to work with industry where they can have concrete understanding and appreciation of the demands and outlook of the industry from technicians to professionals in terms of competency standards. This may also be an avenue for trainors to evaluate their competencies against industry standards.

“Since TESDA is relentless in its pursuit for quality TVET, it also affirms that the quality of training depends largely on the quality of its trainors. Thus, best trainors are also industry practitioners.” Dir. Edgar A. Sales, TESDA 10 OIC Regional Director, said.

Toyota Cagayan de Oro will accommodate atleast two (2) batches of IITP per year for 10-15 training days with a maximum number of five (5) trainors/participants per batch. They will also design the training curriculum/plan at the same time provide training materials and other necessary documents for training. On the other hand, TESDA shall screen and nominate qualified participants and monitor the progress of the training/immersion.

As a kick-off for this partnership, three (3) Automobile Technology Trainors from the Province of Bukidnon, Misamis Occidental and Misamis Oriental were accommodated by Toyota from August 4 to August 15, 2014.
